Tulayev, who was staying at a hotel in South Pattaya, reported that the theft occurred on February 12 while he was in his room.

The culprit, described as a Thai male, used a sharp object to cut through the side of his suitcase, swiftly stealing 40,800 baht, 26,000 rubles (9,600 baht), and US$1,500 (50,000 baht). To make matters worse, the thief also took his car keys and room keys, leaving him stranded and vulnerable.

The Russian national wasted no time in filing a complaint with Police Lieutenant Saksayachai Chaidet, Deputy Chief of Investigation at Pattaya City Police Station, on February 13. Since then, police have launched an investigation, but progress has been slow.

Tulayev visited Pol. Lt. Col. Thananon Athipansee, Deputy Superintendent of Investigation, on Monday, February 17, to follow up on the case. However, his hopes were dashed when police informed him that hotel CCTV cameras failed to capture the suspect in action.

Police have urged anyone with information on the suspect to come forward as they continue their search. Meanwhile, local police are advising tourists to remain vigilant and secure their belongings, especially in hotel rooms where valuables may be at risk.

In similar news, a Turkish man in Pattaya reported losing 25,000 baht after an encounter with a woman he met on Valentine’s Day. Identified only as Nevzat, he filed a police report at 2.46am on February 15.

After agreeing on a price for companionship, they went to a hotel. While he showered the woman remained in the room but was gone when he returned. Attempts to contact her failed. Checking his wallet, Nevzat discovered the money missing and suspected theft.
