Pattaya residents and visitors can now enjoy free Thai massages and foot reflexology, thanks to a city initiative aimed at boosting employment and tackling poverty.

Mayor Poramet Ngampichet recently visited a Thai massage and foot massage training programme, where participants were honing their skills as part of their certification process. Organised by the Social Welfare Office, the initiative aligns with the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy, promoting self-sufficiency, job creation, and community empowerment.

The training provides hands-on experience, equipping individuals with skills that can lead to stable employment and a steady income for their families. To support the trainees, Pattaya City invites the public to take advantage of free massage services available until February 17 at Pattaya City Hall, 4th floor.

The free services will be offered daily from 9am to 3pm, except on February 12 and 13 and on weekends. This initiative not only provides a relaxing treat for the public but also helps trainees gain real-world experience before officially entering the workforce.

Residents and tourists have welcomed the initiative, praising it as a win-win opportunity, allowing them to unwind while supporting local job seekers, reported Pattaya Mail.

For further details, individuals can contact the Employment Promotion and Development Section of Pattaya’s Social Welfare Office.

In similar news, a 20 year old Thai singer, Chayada “Phing” Praohom, passed away on December 8 last year due to complications from a herniated cervical disc, allegedly linked to a massage in Udon Thani.

Chayada, known for her association with Guitar Record, had been bedridden and receiving intensive care at Udon Thani Hospital before her death. Since mid-October, she had been updating fans on her condition through Facebook, detailing her health struggles.

She initially sought a massage at a local shop to relieve shoulder pain, but her condition rapidly deteriorated, eventually leading to hospitalisation.

In one of her posts, she expressed deep regret over her decision, hinting at the unexpected consequences of what seemed like a routine treatment.

Her sudden passing has shocked her fans, many of whom had followed her updates and hoped for her recovery. The tragic incident has also sparked discussions about the risks associated with unregulated massage treatments, urging authorities to ensure proper training and safety standards in the industry.
