Nine detained after migrant workers clash at Pattaya Walking Street
A late-night incident involving more than 20 migrant workers on Pattaya Walking Street on March 15 led police to detain nine people, after tourists reported a group near a hotel in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri, allegedly carrying weapons.
Police were called at 11.46pm after receiving information that a group of young migrant labourers had arranged to meet and were preparing to fight outside the Siam Bayshore Hotel on Walking Street in South Pattaya.
Pattaya City police, together with officers from Pattaya Tourist Police and Pattaya City municipal officers, rushed to the scene.

Upon arrival, they found a large group of foreign workers gathered and appearing ready to confront another group involved in an earlier dispute.
Police moved in to control the situation and were able to detain nine people. Two were identified as Myanmar nationals and three as Karen, while the nationalities of the remaining detainees were still being checked.
Bladed weapons were also seized from the group, including a pointed knife and two short knives. Some people involved in the incident managed to flee during the commotion. Several reportedly ran to motorbikes nearby and left the area.

Officers questioned the detainees, including Myanmar nationals who could speak limited Thai. They told police that more than 20 Myanmar workers had arranged a meeting with a rival group over an earlier dispute at Lan Si Fa near Bali Hai Pier.
According to the detainees, officials arrived while the two sides were attempting to talk through the dispute. They said they panicked, thinking they were about to be arrested, and both groups scattered.
Police said all suspects and the seized weapons were handed to investigators at Pattaya City Police Station for legal proceedings. Officers are also working to identify and track down others who fled, reported เรารักพัทยา.
In similar news, tourists on Pattaya Walking Street were caught up in a late-night scuffle involving a group of Russian men and Thai rappers, prompting some bystanders to move away as the situation escalated.
