A night out turned into a nightmare for a young Pattaya resident after her gold jewellery, worth over 30,000 baht, vanished in a brazen apartment break-in.

Kawalin told reporters that the theft took place at her South Pattaya residence at around 10.30pm on Friday, February 28.

Returning home the next morning, she was stunned to find her valuables missing, prompting her to file a report at Pattaya Police Station yesterday, March 3.

“I’ve lived here for about a year and always felt safe because of the keycard entry system.”

Believing the security measures were enough, she admitted she had left her door unlocked before heading out for dinner. But the next day, her worst fears were realised—her gold jewellery was gone.

Determined to find answers, 23 year old Kawalin reviewed the building’s CCTV footage and made a startling discovery. The footage revealed a suspicious woman, estimated to be between 40 and 45 years old, slipping into the apartment complex alongside other residents.

She was seen testing multiple doors before striking gold, literally, when she found Kawalin’s apartment unlocked. Within just one minute, she entered and exited, making off with the valuables.

Kawalin has urged police to track down the thief and retrieve her stolen jewellery.

“I just want my belongings back and for the police to take action.”

Pattaya police have launched an investigation and are examining CCTV footage in an attempt to identify the suspect. Meanwhile, officers warned residents to remain vigilant and ensure their doors are securely locked, even in buildings with keycard access, reported The Pattaya News.

In similar news, a daring gold heist rocked Mae Sot district, Tak province, as a man disguised as a delivery rider stormed a jewellery shop inside a Lotus shopping mall on March 2.

Armed with a firearm, the suspect made off with approximately 102 baht of gold, valued at 4.7 million baht (US$137,175), in less than a minute.

Police confirmed that the thief grabbed gold from display trays, including a 10-baht tray and two 2-baht trays. CCTV footage captured the suspect—a slim man, around 165 centimetres tall—wearing a black full-face helmet and a green rider’s jacket. Investigators are working to track him down.
