A man from Nong Khai, under the influence of 17 methamphetamine (meth) pills and sleep-deprived for two days, caused a disturbance with a pair of scissors at the Provincial Police Headquarters in Udon Thani.

Satawat Sawasdee, Deputy Inspector at Mueang Udon Thani Police Station, received a report of a man behaving erratically and wielding sharp scissors in front of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Udon Thani yesterday, August 26, at around 2.50pm. Responding swiftly, officers armed with iron forks and tasers were dispatched to the scene to manage the situation.

Upon arrival, officers encountered 41 year old Pairat, a resident of Phon Phisai district, Nong Khai province. Dressed in a black t-shirt and grey shorts, and barefoot, Pairat was brandishing a pair of sharp scissors in his left hand, swaying them menacingly in front of the police headquarters.

Police attempted to negotiate with Pairat, urging him to put down the scissors and surrender. Despite their efforts to calm him, Pairat remained agitated and continued to shout erratically.

Taking advantage of a moment when Pairat sat down beside a car, officers approached from behind and deployed a taser, causing him to fall. The team then moved in, using iron forks to restrain and disarm him. The entire operation took around 30 minutes. During the commotion, Pairat screamed in pain.

“I give up! Don’t hurt me! I’m going to die, brother! I’m sorry, brother! I’m going to die!”

An investigation revealed that Pairat had driven a motorcycle from Nong Khai and continued riding until he reached the scene. Upon arrival, he approached the police and claimed that someone had kidnapped his wife and child.

While speaking with officers, his erratic behaviour suggested drug use. Consequently, officers requested a urine test.

Pairat admitted to purchasing 20 methamphetamine pills, consuming 17 of them, and not sleeping for two days. He mentioned that he still had three pills left and intended to hand them over.

However, when the officers prepared to conduct the urine test, Pairat pulled out the scissors and ran towards Sri Suk Road before doubling back to the police headquarters, where the emergency response team managed to subdue him, reported KhaoSod.
