Bangkok police arrest man with nearly 2,000 meth pills
Police in Bang Sue district, Bangkok arrested a man with nearly 2,000 methamphetamine (meth) pills after he was spotted wandering suspiciously in a local alley. The drugs were found packaged in various quantities, and the suspect admitted to receiving them from a friend.
Phuwadol Unpho, Chief of Bang Sue Police Station, and officers Kittpisit Rayayoi and Nipon Singthong, led an investigation team to apprehend 38 year old Max Phaitan at 7am, yesterday, August 19. Max was found with a significant quantity of meth pills, packaged in blue bags and plastic tubes of various sizes. Specifically, nine blue bags contained 200 pills each, discovered in his side bag, and one small wallet contained a bag of 100 purple pills.
Additionally, smaller meth packages were found in clear plastic tubes. These included one pack of 10 pills, five packs of three pills each, six packs of two pills each, and nine packs of one pill each, totalling 46 pills. Altogether, the officers seized 1,946 meth pills.
The arrest took place in the Wat Phaitan community, located in Soi Phahonyothin 15, Phaya Thai district, following a tip-off from an informant. The informant had described a tall, thin man, approximately 40 years old, who was allegedly selling drugs in the area.
Upon investigation, the officers encountered Max, who matched the description and was acting suspiciously. Suspecting he might be carrying illegal items, the officers searched and discovered the concealed drugs.
Max admitted during questioning that the seized drugs were indeed his and that he had obtained them from a friend named Boy, who resides in Samut Prakan province.
Police have charged Max with possession of a Category 1 drug (meth) with intent to sell, a serious offence under Thai law. Following his arrest, Max was transferred to Bang Sue Police Station for further investigation to identify and apprehend additional suspects involved in the drug operation, reported KhaoSod.
