In a high-stakes bid to protect Koh Larn from future water shortages, a team from Pattaya City inspected the ambitious Haad Samae Beach reservoir renovation on Sunday, September 22.

With a whopping 7.5 million baht budget on the line, this project is set to breathe new life into the neglected reservoir, ensuring locals have access to a reliable water supply and disaster prevention measures.

The renovation is a long-overdue fix for the reservoir, which has suffered years of neglect. Once a crucial water source, the reservoir’s capacity has dwindled after years without dredging. Now, thanks to a contract awarded to VG Joint Venture for 7.41 million baht, work is underway to restore the reservoir’s ability to combat drought and serve the island’s growing community.

Banjong Buntoonprayuk, Deputy Chairman of Pattaya City Council, expressed optimism about the project.

“Significant progress has been made. We expect this renovation will allow the reservoir to serve as an essential water reserve. It will provide vital resources to combat droughts and benefit the local community on Koh Larn.”

With the project in full swing, residents are hopeful that the revamped reservoir will not only solve current water issues but also prevent future disasters. The initiative is seen as a game-changer for Koh Larn, safeguarding the island’s future against the unpredictable wrath of nature.

Only time will tell whether this 7.5 million baht investment is enough to secure the island’s water supply for years to come, reported Pattaya Mail.
