The sudden and mysterious death of a four month old infant has shaken a family and a neighbourhood in Chanthaburi, Thailand. The baby, found lifeless in the arms of his 32 year old mother, Ka-na, at their home, sparked an immediate police investigation due to its unnatural occurrence.

The family’s single-storey concrete house, situated on the edge of Kong Kang forest, witnessed the heartbreaking scene at 9.30am today. Ka-na, who was visibly distraught, held her baby boy, wrapped in a towel, as relatives and her husband tried to comfort her.

Ka-na and her husband led a typical life, working as general labourers. They were parents to two children, with the deceased baby being the youngest. Ka-na had given birth to him at home on July 19. The family had sought medical advice for their baby, who was diagnosed with a heart condition. However, they did not proceed with any treatment.

In the past months, the baby had been feeding and sleeping normally, albeit eating less than an average child. On the fateful morning, after a usual feeding and play session with the parents, the child was found lying still with his eyes open. The parents immediately sought help from the village elders, who alerted the authorities, reported KhaoSod.
