A grisly scene unfolded in the town of Amnat Charoen, where a deranged individual unleashed a violent assault on his neighbours and pets. Today, May 7, at 6am, police received a distress call about a man attacking residents with a knife. The perpetrator, identified as 27 year old Wittaya, was apprehended at his home in a state of frenzy.

The investigation led by Police Lieutenant Teerjutha Hongsa, along with the Amnat Charoen town police chief and emergency response teams, found two lifeless dogs at the scene, one brutally decapitated. Wittaya, wielding the knife used in the attacks, was taken into custody as he sat in his home, still in a delusional state.

Neighbours were alerted to the carnage when they stumbled upon bloodstains and discarded shoes near the site of the attack. The victims, two siblings, were rushed to Amnat Charoen Hospital. The 52 year old elder brother, Kunchorn, had a terrifying confrontation with Wittaya. The altercation escalated, and Kunchorn had to feign sleep to avoid becoming the next target.

Wittaya’s stepfather recounted the harrowing events, describing how the accused sharpened his knife after a drinking session in the early hours. The stepfather’s fear was palpable as he spoke of the violence that ensued. Wittaya killed a small dog he was raising, then fatally struck another before turning the knife on his neighbours.

The 61 year old assistant village headman, Montian, witnessed the aftermath as the injured brothers sought refuge, collapsing near a lamppost about 200 meters from the scene. The villagers immediately came to their aid, facilitating their transport to the hospital.

The extent of the injuries was severe, with the older sibling suffering a significant wound to the right side of his neck and the younger brother narrowly escaping, sustaining cuts to his chin and left arm. The history of animosity between the attacker and the victims was well-known in the community. Wittaya, who had a drug-related background and was recently released from prison, previously had altercations with the brothers, including damaging their property.

Montian further revealed that the previous night, Wittaya broke into a local shop to steal alcohol, which likely contributed to his subsequent psychotic state. Following his arrest, authorities are charging Wittaya with attempted murder and, pending drug test results, additional drug charges may be filed against him, reported Khaosod.
