FazWaz launches real-time earthquake alert system for Thailand

Following the powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar on Friday, March 28, and was felt across Thailand, FazWaz has launched a real-time earthquake alert system for residents in Thailand.
The system was developed in just one weekend by Fazwaz, one of which is the main developers at FazWaz, Yossaphorn KhrueaKaew, who spearheaded its creation in order to provide early warning alerts for seismic activity in the region.
This new tool allows users to receive real-time earthquake notifications based on their distance from Bangkok (up to 1,500 kilometre) and the magnitude threshold of earthquakes. Users can subscribe to email notifications, with plans to roll out SMS and phone alerts in the near future.

The system is currently in beta and is available free of charge to anyone in Thailand who wishes to receive alerts. As more users sign up, FazWaz plans to scale up the system to integrate additional alert channels such as SMS and phone alerts.
The goal is to expand the system and make it a critical resource for earthquake preparedness in Thailand.
The tool was created as a community-driven project, born from the developers’ desire to offer timely, reliable earthquake alerts after the recent tremors in Thailand. This initiative is aimed at providing people with a heads-up on seismic activity, helping them stay safe and make informed decisions in case of future earthquakes.
Stay alert now
To get started, it does not take too much. All it takes is just your email, phone number (optionally), and the area that you are staying in. Once you put the details in, that’s it!

If you are wondering if it might be necessary, one can never be too safe about what goes on. Now that we know that it is possible to be hit with a massive tremor or earthquake, might as well keep our ear to the ground.
