Ayutthaya shrine sparks lottery frenzy after string of jackpot wins

Devotees flock to sacred site as belief in divine luck intensifies

A shrine in Ayutthaya has sparked nationwide buzz after multiple visitors won top lottery prizes, with many now hoping to become the next lucky winner.

The shrine, called Father of Million Baht (พ่อแก่เงินล้าน), is located in Bang Phra Khru, Nakhon Luang District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province. It has already produced seven first-prize lottery winners. Now, with the next draw approaching, all eyes are on whether an eighth lucky devotee will emerge.

In the March 1 draw, a woman claimed 12 million baht after seeing the deity appear on her tablet. Her story set off a wave of pilgrimages to the shrine. Months later, on October 1, a man performed a traditional incense ritual at the same location and walked away with another 12 million baht. In gratitude, he pledged to donate 1 million baht towards building a larger brass statue of the deity, reflecting the deep faith and community support surrounding the shrine.

The latest buzz was sparked during a recent broadcast of the lottery show Lottery Trend Plus. The show’s host, Art, attempted to draw a number from a jar filled with ping-pong balls. To everyone’s surprise, he pulled out three blank balls, despite every ball supposedly being numbered. Art took it as a sign from the Father of Million Baht.

Adding to the mystery, the incense used during the ritual revealed the number 300, which Art believed aligned with the three blank balls. The show concluded by sharing the full set of auspicious numbers revealed by the incense: 6, 9, 1, and 8.

The Father of Million Baht has become something of a cultural phenomenon, known for its distinctive large head and reputation for rewarding faithful visitors. As the next lottery draw nears, believers continue to make their way to the shrine, hopeful that they too will receive a life-changing blessing.
