Rain check: 32 provinces braced for a soaking as storms roll in
Residents urged to brace for flash floods and disrupted routines

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) today issued a weather warning, forecasting heavy rain across 32 provinces in Thailand, with 60% of the areas expected to experience significant rainfall.
Residents in Bueng Kan, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Chanthaburi, and Trat are advised to remain cautious of the potential hazards from heavy rain, including flash floods and forest run-off, especially in foothill areas and low-lying regions.
The presence of a low-pressure area over northern Vietnam, combined with a moderate southwesterly monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, contributes to the current weather conditions.
The Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand will experience moderate sea conditions, with waves reaching approximately 2 metres in the upper Andaman Sea and 1 to 2 metres in the lower Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand.
Thunderstorms may cause waves to exceed 2 metres. Boat operators in these areas are urged to exercise caution and avoid sailing in stormy conditions.
At 4am today, July 9, Tropical Storm Danas made landfall in Zhejiang province, China, and is expected to weaken to a depression and subsequently a low-pressure cell. Although this storm will not directly impact Thailand, it will moderate the prevailing southwesterly monsoon over the country. Travellers to the affected regions are advised to check weather updates before departing.
