Young man dies in motorbike crash on Chon Buri motorway
A tragic accident claimed the life of a 24 year old man when his motorbike crashed into a streetlight pole. He was on his way to pick up his girlfriend for new year celebrations when the fatal incident occurred.
At approximately 3.30am today, December 27, police officer Suchaiyos Chuaykaew received reports of a motorcycle accident along the Don Hua Lo motorway, heading towards Bangkok in Chon Buri’s Don Hua Lo subdistrict. Responding to the call, emergency services, including a rescue unit and medical personnel from Chon Buri Hospital, arrived at the scene to find 24 year old Choktavee lying unconscious with severe head injuries.
Despite efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the scene. His green Kawasaki Ninja motorbike was found 5 metres away, heavily damaged, and a nearby streetlight pole bore marks of a collision.
Witness, 34 year old Kiatthipong Thongsri, recounted that he was driving when he saw the deceased speeding past him. The motorbike accelerated before disappearing from view until it was later found crashed.
Kiatthipong did not see any collision with another vehicle but realised the motorbike had struck a streetlight upon investigation.
Choktavee’s cousin, visibly shocked and in tears, arrived at the scene. She explained that Choktavee was on his way to meet his girlfriend in Ban Kao subdistrict and was planning to return to Udon Thani later that night to visit his grandmother for the new year holidays. Unfortunately, the accident occurred just hours before he travelled home, reported KhaoSod.
Police intend to review CCTV footage from the area as part of their ongoing investigation into the incident.
