Massive dome collapses at MEA training centre in Samut Prakan
A large dome structure collapsed around 11.30am today, February 9, at a training centre operated by the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) in Samut Prakan province.
Rescue workers and volunteers are currently attempting to access the site, located within the MEA’s Mueang Mai Bang Phli housing complex, to assess the full extent of the damage.
There are ongoing efforts to determine whether any staff or construction workers are trapped beneath the wreckage. So far, the number of potential injuries remains unknown.

Officials have cordoned off the surrounding area to prevent access by unauthorised personnel, citing safety concerns as the structure remains unstable and at risk of further collapse. Emergency teams are proceeding with caution as the situation is still unfolding.
The cause of the incident has not yet been confirmed and will require further investigation by engineers and relevant agencies to determine the structural failure behind the collapse, reported Fire & Rescue Thailand.

In similar news, a large traffic sign collapsed onto a motorcycle on the Friendship Highway in Saraburi province, leaving three victims with serious injuries. Police suspected that the incident was caused by stolen bolts securing the sign’s support pole.
The victims included a 17 year old boy who was riding the motorcycle, along with two passengers, a 13 year old girl and a woman estimated to be between 50 and 60 years old. All three were travelling together on a red-and-white Yamaha motorcycle when they reportedly crashed into the fallen sign.
Authorities said the traffic sign weighed approximately one tonne. The metal support pole was around nine metres high, while the sign itself measured roughly eight metres in width.
Workers from a nearby road construction site were reportedly the first to reach the victims. They assisted by providing initial help and blocking off the road to prevent further accidents while emergency services were on the way.
