A devastating accident occurred in Samut Prakan, where a 27 year old delivery driver tragically lost his life after colliding with a shrine. The incident took place within a large roundabout near the shrine yesterday, around 10pm. The police are currently investigating the cause of the accident, leaving no stone unturned.

The delivery driver, Chokchai, a resident of Klong Lan, Kamphaeng Phet, was found lifeless at the scene, wearing a blue t-shirt and a long-sleeved green and black jacket. He had a severe chest wound on his right side, and his right arm was broken. Nearby, his red and black Honda Wave motorcycle, registered in Bangkok, was severely damaged.

The shrine also bore signs of the collision, with prayer tiles, candle holders, flower pots, and incense burners scattered on the ground. The eyewitness, Somphoch, a security guard, stated he saw the victim riding alone at high speed. Without braking, Chokchai hit the barrier and crashed into the shrine.

Chokchai’s wife, 27 year old Walailak, tearfully recounted the events leading up to the tragedy. She was shopping at a Lotus’s store near the Samut Prakan accident site when Chokchai called to ask her location. He then arrived on a separate motorcycle to take her home.

After leaving the store, they took separate paths. When Chokchai didn’t follow her, she suspected something had gone wrong and returned to find the Samut Prakan accident scene.

Walailak couldn’t confirm if Chokchai had been drinking at his sister’s house before the accident, as they were in different locations at the time. She was also unaware of the reason behind the unfortunate Samut Prakan accident, emphasising they didn’t have any disagreements. Before leaving the Lotus’s store, Chokchai insisted they ride separately and told her to drive safely. This turned out to be his last words to her, reported KhaoSod.

The police have yet to conclude the cause of the Samut Prakan accident. They have collected evidence from the site and interviewed eyewitnesses, Walailak, and family members. Chokchai’s body was handed over to the Ruamkatanyu Foundation for further examination at Ramathibodi Hospital. The police are also analysing CCTV footage to aid their investigation.
