The accident unfolded on the Klong Luang road in Pathum Thani around 9.20am today. Singha Singhachalee, a police officer from the Klong Luang Police Station, received a distress call about a student tour bus involved in a multiple-vehicle collision, with multiple casualties reported. The incident took place on the Bang Khan-Nhor Sue road towards Klong Ha, near the PT petrol station in Klong Sam, Klong Luang, Pathum Thani.

At the scene of the accident, a school bus carrying students on a field trip was found severely damaged on the rightmost lane. Numerous students and teachers from Wat Nuan Noradit School in Bangkok, who were travelling in the three buses, were found injured.

They were situated under a nearby construction materials shop’s shade, where first responders assessed their condition and administered preliminary medical aid. The injured were then transported to Thammasat University Hospital, Bang Pakok Rangsit 2 Hospital, Klong Luang Hospital, and Karunvej Hospital. In total, 25 people suffered non-fatal injuries, reported KhaoSod.

The last bus driver, who was trapped in the wreckage, had to be extracted using hydraulic rescue equipment, a process which took over 30 minutes. The 38 year old driver, Sathit Sukplang, was then taken to Thammasat University Hospital.

Another passenger, Waraphorn Pluemkitmongkol, a 28 year old teacher who was travelling with the students, revealed that all students were in Grade 12 from Wat Nuan Noradit School, Bangkok. They were travelling in 10 buses to the Thailand Science and Technology Research Institute (TSTRI) in Klong Ha, Klong Luang, and Pathum Thani. However, the last three buses were involved in the accident, which occurred when a pickup truck swerved in front of them to avoid another bus entering the petrol station, leading to a series of collisions injuring several students.

Phusuphasorn Thongta, a 33 year old driver of the eighth bus, stated that he and nine other buses were transporting students to the TSTRI. Upon reaching the accident site, a trailer truck was turning into a petrol station, and a pickup truck swerved right to avoid it. This sudden manoeuvre forced the tour bus to brake abruptly, leading to a series of collisions injuring multiple individuals.
