Motorway crash in Chon Buri leaves three trapped in wreckage

Rescue teams battle time to free victims from mangled wreck after devastating collision

A collision on a motorway resulted in a pickup truck crashing into the rear of a trailer truck, leaving three people trapped in the wreckage.

Rescue teams were called to the scene, using hydraulic equipment to extricate the victims and transport them to the hospital. The incident occurred at 10.30pm yesterday, May 6, along the inbound lane of the motorway to Pattaya, at kilometre marker 80-400 in Nong Khang Khok subdistrict, Mueang district, Chon Buri province.

Upon arrival, the rescue team from the Tri Khunatham Foundation discovered a white Isuzu D-Max pickup truck, registration number 5 กอ 6988 Bangkok, with its front severely damaged. The driver, Nopparat, was pinned inside the vehicle. Additionally, Nopadol and Yod were also injured and trapped in the wreckage.

The rescue team quickly deployed hydraulic equipment to free the injured people from the vehicle. After providing initial medical attention, they were immediately transported to the hospital. The other vehicle involved, a white Hino trailer truck with registration number 72-0176 Chachoengsao, was parked roadside with damage to its right rear end.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the pickup truck was travelling from Pan Thong district, heading towards Pattaya, when it lost control and crashed forcefully into the trailer’s rear. Police are continuing their investigation to proceed with legal actions, reported KhaoSod.

In similar news, a pickup truck driver caused major disruption on Phuket’s roads after crashing into Heroines Monument, bringing traffic to a halt.

At 12.54am on March 28, Thalang Police were notified of the accident and quickly responded, joined by rescue workers from the Phuket Kusoldharm Foundation.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the Toyota pickup on its side, obstructing the road. The vehicle, registered in Phuket, had crashed into the monument’s surrounding barrier, causing noticeable damage.

The driver, 51 year old Phongsak Promma, suffered a minor head injury but declined hospitalisation. Emergency responders treated him at the scene, providing first aid before coordinating the removal of the vehicle with a salvage truck to clear the wreckage.
