Teenagers injured in Ayutthaya market attack
Teenagers defied the law by throwing bombs and firing shots in a bustling market in Ayutthaya, leaving an 18 year old boy and a 16 year old girl injured. Police identified the suspects, and efforts are underway to apprehend them.
Early today, August 14, at 2.30am, Deputy Inspector Chaloemchai Roentaithong of Uthai Police Station received a report of a violent altercation involving firearms and explosives in Grand Market, Moo 1, Thanu, Uthai District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. Police officers, along with volunteers from the Phutthaisawan Foundation, were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, police found two injured individuals. The first, an 18 year old male, had been shot in the left arm. The second, a 16 year old female, sustained a gunshot wound to her left arm and shrapnel injuries. Both were promptly given first aid and transported to Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Hospital.
A friend of the injured teens recounted that they had ridden motorcycles to enjoy a meal of pork blood soup. After finishing their meal, they returned to their motorcycles, parked opposite the restaurant.
While conversing near their bikes, a group of teenagers on three motorcycles approached and threw a ping-pong bomb at them, followed by three gunshots. The group scattered to avoid injury, while the perpetrators fled the scene. The friend mentioned that they did not recognise the attackers.

“Upon arrival, I found a young man and woman injured. We administered first aid and transported them to the hospital.”
A restaurant employee cleaning dishes during the incident reported hearing a loud explosion followed by continuous gunfire.
“I immediately ducked for cover. Once the gunfire ceased, I realised two youths had been injured. The group of four had just finished their meal and were heading to their motorcycles. I have no information on the motive or identity of the attackers.”
Police officers investigating the scene discovered two spent bullet casings. Witnesses, including the friends of the injured, are being questioned. Police are reviewing CCTV footage to identify and apprehend the perpetrators, reported KhaoSod.
Efforts to locate and bring those responsible to justice are ongoing.
