A teenage girl, referred to as A, has accused her uncle of sexual assault and her aunt of physical abuse, prompting her to seek refuge in a temple.
Yesterday, February 12, the 16 year old girl, accompanied by Chaiyanat Yamasamit, a 36 year old assistant village headman from Ao Noi subdistrict in Mueang district, Prachuap Khiri Khan province, reported the incidents to the police at Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan Police Station.
The teenage girl exhibited bruises and a swollen face, allegedly resulting from assaults by her aunt, as well as the sexual assault by her uncle.
Chaiyanat stated that she fled her home and was found crying at the temple by a monk, who informed him. Upon inquiry, A disclosed the sexual assault by her uncle and the physical abuse by her biological aunt.
Additionally, while accompanying her aunt to work at a facility for disadvantaged people, A was reportedly molested twice by some residents there. The police, along with social development officials, have since taken her to identify the crime scene and conducted a thorough medical examination.
She is now under the care of Prachuap Khiri Khan’s shelter for children and families. Initial investigations indicate two to three potential perpetrators. However, the police emphasised that filing a false report would also result in legal consequences.
A’s 33 year old aunt, referred to as B, claimed that her 44 year old husband, the uncle, engaged in inappropriate relations with A, who she has raised since she was four due to her parents’ separation. B stated she has provided well for A but warned her not to interfere with her husband, reported KhaoSod.
Upon discovering their interactions twice, B admitted to assaulting A in anger, which led to a physical struggle. B was also injured and claimed ignorance of the cause of A’s extensive injuries. Despite this being the first instance of physical discipline, B expressed disbelief, saying, “These issues don’t happen in isolation.”
