Pipe dream: Teenagers caught escaping Thai detention centre

Fifteen juveniles who escaped from a detention centre in Nakhon Ratchasima have been apprehended. Armed with metal pipes, they stole a motorcycle from a local, citing unbearable heat and homesickness as reasons for their escape. Police have informed the parents of the incident.
Yesterday, March 16, a disturbance occurred at the Juvenile Observation and Protection Centre in Nakhon Ratchasima province, leading to the escape of 15 juveniles. They climbed the fence and fled with metal pipes as weapons, stealing a local’s motorcycle.
CCTV captured their actions. Officers from the detention centre and Pho Klang Police Station mobilised to track down and capture 12 of the escapees, who were then interrogated at the station. The remaining three were later apprehended, completing the roundup of all 15 escapees.
They have been taken back for questioning at the detention centre, and their parents have been called to discuss their behaviour. Agreements are being made between the centre and the police.
Initial investigations revealed that the 15 juveniles claimed they could no longer endure the heat and their longing for home, prompting them to plan their escape, reported KhaoSod.
