Drunken Korean shot by local man in a Pattaya grocery store for being too noisy
A drunken Korean man was shot by a local in a Pattaya grocery store for being too noisy.
According to witnesses, the Korean, Namil Kim, was making a nuisance of himself early this morning and the customer lost his temper as a result. The gunman withdrew his gun and fired two shots, one hit the allegedly irritating Korean in the leg while the second shot hit a passing motorcyclist in the leg, reported Bangkok Post.
The drama unfolded at about 4am at Saep Sadung Lin, a shop selling northeastern food on Pattaya Sai 3 Road in tambon Nong Prue, Bang Lamung district.
Police and rescuers were called to the scene and reported that a 47 year old Korean national had been shot in the right leg. It was revealed that Kim runs a cannabis shop, THC Trade Herbs & Cannabis, nearby the food store.
A Thai man who was passing by the shop, Tanawat Saisalee was struck in the left leg.
Police recovered two spent 9mm cartridges at the location.
According to a witness, the Korean man seemed to be intoxicated and was shouting loudly, causing a disturbance. Another individual who was sitting close by became irritated, withdrew a firearm and discharged two rounds.
One of the bullets hit the Korean in the leg while the other struck 25 year old Tanawat, who was riding his motorcycle home from work and happened to be passing in front of the store.
The gunman then fled the scene.
Pattaya Police chief Pol Col Thanapong Pothi told the press that the incident was recorded by the shop security camera and officers were out looking for the gunman.
This is the second shooting in Pattaya in two months.
In January, the nephew of a former deputy mayor of Pattaya shot a British man in a road rage incident.
The 32 year old man, identified only by his first name Apichat, shot 71 year old Neil Roger after the motorcyclist honked his horn at him.
Roger, a British engineer, died as a result of the shooting.
Apichat later surrendered to the police.
