A man returned his wife to her mother’s home after she repeatedly left their young daughter alone to sneak out and play cards. However, the mother-in-law refused to accept her back, stating that no returns were allowed.

The man had given his wife a dowry of 380,000 yuan (1.86 million baht) when they married. Initially, their married life was joyful and they were blessed with a beautiful daughter.

In their usual routine, the husband worked outside the home while his wife stayed home to care for their child. However, whenever their daughter would nap, the wife would sneak out to play cards, leaving the child alone. One day, the husband returned home unannounced to find their daughter alone. When questioned, the child revealed that her mother had gone to play cards.

The husband decided to wait and confront his wife when she returned in the evening. Upon her arrival, she quickly defended herself, claiming she had only been out running errands. The husband, now aware of his wife’s lies and her gambling habit, decided he could no longer tolerate her behaviour.

Seeing that she smelled of cigarette smoke, he carried her to her mother’s house.

“Your daughter has been leaving our child at home to play cards. I don’t want this wife anymore, I want to return her.”,

The mother-in-law, however, quickly shut the door and pushed him out.

“You chose your wife, and I let my daughter go. Now, you can’t return her.”

Despite this, the husband insisted on compensation for the dowry he had given.

“Can I exchange for something else if you don’t want to take her back? I don’t want this anymore.”

The mother-in-law refused once again.

“Interested in my other daughter, are you? Don’t think about marrying two of my daughters with one dowry.”

At this point, both the wife and the husband laughed, knowing they weren’t truly considering ending their marriage.

When this story became public, some online commentators praised the husband’s method of “returning the goods” to address the issue instead of arguing in front of their daughter.

Although the mother-in-law refused to take her daughter back, they believe she will likely take the opportunity to privately admonish her daughter, reported Sohu.
