Police Colonel Chagard Thiamwong, Deputy Commander of Udon Thani Provincial Police, and Police Colonel Patthanawong Chanpon, Superintendent of Mueang Udon Thani Police Station, rushed to the scene with their team.

Upon arrival at the single-storey concrete house in Ban Sriwilai, Ban Chan subdistrict, emergency services from Udon Thani Hospital were attempting to resuscitate 34 year old Sukanya, also known as Beer.

She had been stabbed over 10 times in the body and neck by her ex-husband, resulting in severe blood loss. Despite efforts to save her, she succumbed to her injuries.

The suspect was identified as 32 year old Ritthiporn or Top, who fled on a black motorcycle after the attack. Police later apprehended him, noting his calm demeanor during the arrest.

He directed the officers to the location where he discarded the bloodstained knife in front of the Ban Chan Subdistrict Administrative Organisation office before being taken to the Mueang Udon Thani Police Station for further questioning.

During the investigation, Sukthong’s 65 year old mother expressed her grief and explained the circumstances leading to the tragic event. She disclosed that Sukthong had left Ritthiporn due to his violent behaviour, drug addiction, and gambling habits, which had caused repeated conflicts.

The couple had been separated for two to three months, during which Sukthong had reported death threats from Ritthiporn to the police, including a specific threat on December 11 last year. Despite sharing a 10 year old child and no interference from family, Sukanya could no longer tolerate the situation.

Ritthiporn’s visit that day was supposedly an attempt to reconcile but it ended in a fatal confrontation, reported KhaoSod.

Sukthong lamented the loss of her daughter, stating that she had tried to move on but the persistent threats and violence culminated in her untimely death. The family remains devastated by the incident, as they mourn the loss of Sukanya.
