A cadet has been sued for 2 million yuan (9,781 million baht) after having an affair with his girlfriend’s mother, resulting in the collapse of the family’s marriage. The affair was discovered via explicit messages and images shared between the pair on Instagram.

The Mirror Media reports that a military cadet in Taiwan had an illicit relationship with his girlfriend’s mother, leading to a lawsuit by the girl’s father for damages amounting to 2 million yuan. The couple, married in July 2001, have two children. In July 2020, the daughter introduced her military cadet boyfriend to the family and they often spent time together in various activities.

In October of the same year, the husband began suspecting something was amiss after witnessing suspicious interactions between his wife and the young man. After two months, his wife finally admitted the secret affair. The report reveals that the illicit couple communicated on Instagram, referring to each other as partners, and sharing explicit messages, images, and videos.

After discovering the affair, the husband warned his wife to end the relationship before ultimately divorcing her. However, he refused to let her walk free and sued the cadet’s parents and his ex-wife for 2 million yuan each. As the young man was under 20 years old and had limited ability to compensate, his parents were the target of the lawsuit.

The cadet denied the allegations, stating that he had no time to meet the woman due to his strict military academy schedule and asserted that the entire situation was a misunderstanding. Nonetheless, the judge ruled that both the cadet and his girlfriend’s mother had violated moral principles, and found substantial proof of explicit conversations, and evidence of outings and hotel stays.

The judge ruled that the cadet’s parents should pay 400,000 yuan each (2 million baht), and the ex-wife should pay a similar amount, making the total compensation 800,000 yuan each (4 million baht).
