Malaysian tourist dies after hotel balcony plunge in Patong
A foreign man leaps from the 4th floor of a hotel, survives initial fall but later dies

Holidaymakers in Phuket were left stunned when a Malaysian tourist reportedly “acting crazy” leapt from a hotel balcony in the early hours of yesterday, later dying from his injuries in hospital.
The incident happened around 1.30am yesterday, May 9, when Patong Police were alerted by Patong Hospital that a foreign man had fallen from a hotel building and had tragically succumbed to his injuries shortly after being admitted.
Police Lieutenant Chanarong Prakongkeo, the investigation officer from Patong Police Station, received the call and immediately informed Police Colonel Chalermchai Hirasawat, the station superintendent. Officers rushed to the hospital and the scene of the fall, where they confirmed the victim was a 25 year old Malaysian national.
His identity has been withheld pending notification of his family, in accordance with standard procedures.
According to police, the man had arrived in Thailand just a day earlier, on May 8, as part of a tour group consisting of 20 Malaysians. He had been sharing a hotel room with three friends in the heart of Patong.
Witnesses told police the man began behaving erratically before the fatal plunge. “He ran out of the room, climbed over the balcony at the back of the hotel, and jumped,” a friend reportedly told investigators.
Startlingly, the man survived the initial fall, landing on the balcony of an adjacent building, but then jumped again, falling to the ground below and sustaining critical injuries.

An ambulance from Patong Hospital arrived quickly and transported him for emergency treatment, but despite efforts to save him, he died shortly after arrival, reported The Phuket News.
The cause of death has since been reported to the Malaysian Embassy in Thailand, which is now coordinating with the man’s family regarding repatriation and further procedures.
Patong Police continue their investigation into the incident and will review hotel CCTV footage and witness accounts. There were no initial signs of foul play, but the bizarre circumstances have prompted deeper scrutiny.
The man’s sudden change in behaviour has raised questions among officers, though no substances or external injuries suggesting violence were immediately reported.
More details are expected to emerge once autopsy results are released and further interviews with witnesses are conducted.
