Airport van crashes into traffic pole in Phuket smash

A terrifying crash in Phuket last night left a van driver trapped inside his mangled vehicle after it veered out of control and slammed into a traffic sign and an electric pole.
The dramatic accident unfolded on Srisoonthorn Road, near the entrance to Wat Manik, at around 7.20pm yesterday, March 3.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene to find the van’s front end completely crushed, with a white Toyota Yaris also involved in the collision, having rear-ended the van.
The van’s driver, 25 year old Prinya Rakchan, was found trapped inside the wreckage, unable to escape on his own. Rescue workers from the Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation’s Muang Mai team were called in and used cutting equipment to free him.
“It took about 10 minutes to get him out,” rescue workers confirmed. Despite the severity of the crash, Prinya miraculously escaped with only minor injuries and was transported to Thalang Hospital for medical treatment.
Initial investigations revealed that Prinya had been returning from a hotel drop-off in Cherng Talay after transporting foreign passengers from Phuket International Airport. While heading back, he lost control of the van, sending it crashing into the median strip.
The driver of the Toyota Yaris, identified only as Ek by rescue teams, was fortunate to escape unscathed.
Although no specific cause for the accident has been confirmed, police have charged Prinya with reckless driving causing damage to government property, reported The Phuket News.
In similar news, a violent collision between an 18-wheel truck and a passenger van in Phatthalung province left four people injured and caused severe damage to the vehicle. The accident occurred on Friday, February 28, on the Asian Highway in Mueang 3, Chamuang subdistrict, Khuan Khanun district.
Khuan Khanun Police and Phatthalung rescue teams arrived at the scene to find a heavily damaged Toyota passenger van, licence plate 1นช 7094, Bangkok. The van had been rear-ended by the truck, forcing it into a streetlight pole on the median strip.
