A Bangkok public bus, route 167, encountered an oil slick on the road, causing it to lose control while navigating a curve.
The incident occurred today, February 11, at 12.20am near the Maihai Sawan intersection in Thon Buri, Bangkok. The bus veered off course and collided with a high-voltage electric pole’s support cable, lifting its front wheels over 3 metres off the ground.
Traffic police from Bukkhalo Police Station responded to the scene, coordinating with the Metropolitan Electricity Authority and Poh Teck Tung Foundation volunteers.
At the location, they found the orange air-conditioned bus, which operates between Rama II Housing and Lumphini Park, with its front wheels elevated over 3 metres.
The left side mirror was caught on the large support cable of the high-voltage pole, immobilising the vehicle. Fortunately, no serious injuries or fatalities were reported.

Apinya, the 34 year old bus driver, explained that she was descending from the Krungthep Bridge when the accident occurred. As she turned a curve towards Chom Thong Road, she noticed the road was slick with oil, causing the front wheels to slide and the bus to veer into the support cable.
She considered herself lucky, as only three passengers were on board at the time. Had she turned the bus in another direction, the risk of serious injuries would have been significant, reported KhaoSod.
The Metropolitan Electricity Authority and a large crane initiated operations to remove the bus from the site.
In similar news, in Phuket, officials are investigating a tourist bus accident in Kata that resulted in the vehicle falling into a 15-metre-deep ravine, injuring nine people.
The incident took place on February 1, around 1.15pm near the Le Méridien Phuket Beach Resort, located south of Patong.
Emergency rescue teams from the Phuket Kusoldharm Foundation and Karon Municipality, along with local police, arrived promptly at the scene.
