The bustling seaside resort of Pattaya was recently the setting for an unfortunate incident involving an Indian tourist assaulted by a local motorbike taxi driver. The Indian visitor, Somnath Saha, fell victim to a physical assault, allegedly perpetrated by the taxi driver.

The conflict began when the 39 year old Indian tourist parked his motorbike in a spot the local Pattaya man claimed was solely reserved for taxi motorcycles.

The incident transpired in the early hours of the day on Pattaya Second Road, in front of a bustling local market. According to Saha, the Thai man approached him, asking him to relocate his vehicle. Saha, recognising his mistake of parking in a taxi motorcycle zone, respectfully responded to the man’s request. He employed a wai, a traditional Thai gesture of apology, and began to move his motorbike.

However, the situation took a turn for the worse when the Thai man allegedly launched an unprovoked attack on Saha. The Indian tourist reported being struck twice on the left side of his head, which left him in a state of fear. He immediately fled the scene on his motorbike to escape further confrontation.

“We’re working to ensure the safety of all visitors and residents in our city.

“We take incidents like this very seriously and will do everything within our power to bring the perpetrator to justice.”

The community awaits updates on the Indian tourist assault in Pattaya as the investigation continues.

The city, known for its vibrant nightlife and beach resorts, is committed to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all. While such incidents are rare, they remind us of the need for mutual respect and understanding in our diverse global community.
