Fatal crash on Bang Lamung road as SUV hits car

A tragic accident occurred yesterday when a car collided head-on with an SUV, resulting in severe damage to both vehicles and the death of one driver. The incident took place at 10.06pm yesterday, January 13, on Takhiantia-Khaomaikaew Road, Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri province.

Emergency services from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Centre in Pattaya received reports of a serious collision involving a Mitsubishi Pajero and a Mitsubishi Attrage near the entrance of Khaomaikaew 19 Alley.

Police Lieutenant Ratchapol Seneewong na Ayutthaya from Bang Lamung Police Station and a team of rescue volunteers were promptly dispatched to the scene with equipment for extricating trapped individuals.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel found a white Mitsubishi Pajero with the licence plate ขอ 2811 Chon Buri, driven by 48 year old Samut Phattum. The SUV had crossed into the opposite lane and sustained severe damage to the left front side. Samut was waiting to provide his account to the police.

The second vehicle, a bronze Mitsubishi Attrage with the registration งฉ 9457 Chon Buri, had veered off the road. The car was extensively damaged, with 49 year old Kueapong Khamwichit trapped inside.

Rescue workers used cutting tools to extract him from the wreckage. Despite continuous CPR efforts, Kueapong succumbed to his injuries.

Samut, the Pajero driver, stated he was heading towards Sukhumvit Road for work when the other vehicle crossed into his lane. He attempted to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful, resulting in the Attrage being hit on its left side and subsequently overturning off the road.

Samut managed to regain composure and notified the police for assistance, reported KhaoSod.

Police Lieutenant Ratchapol documented the scene and invited both parties for further questioning. Investigations will include reviewing CCTV and dashcam footage to ascertain the cause of the accident and conclude the case.

The deceased’s body was transported to Pattaya Patthamakun Hospital, awaiting family members to complete the necessary paperwork for funeral arrangements.
