Drunk tourist claims missing cash from transwoman in Pattaya

An Instagram video posted by a foreign tourist has highlighted a dispute on Pattaya Walking Street, after a heavily intoxicated tourist claimed money was missing in an incident involving a transgender woman.

In the clip, the poster said they were playing pool outside a venue when a drunk man approached and repeatedly shouted “Police! Police!” at them.

Despite being told they were not an officer, the man kept asking for help, so the poster followed him to a nearby street corner. There, another tourist wearing a cap was standing nearby, and a Thai man was seen calling police.

The video and the accompanying account suggest the dispute involved a transgender woman accused of trying to take 500 baht from the intoxicated tourist.

The poster said the tourist was so drunk that they could barely communicate in English, and the poster helped translate while police officers asked questions about what had happened.

After discussions at the scene, the tourist who said their money was missing later confirmed they had received 500 baht back and wanted to return to their accommodation to rest. The police reportedly allowed the tourist to leave.

In the same video, police were seen warning the transgender woman about behaviour that could break the law, before asking them to go to the police station for further questioning.

TravelNews reported that the clip also shows the tourist holding onto the transgender woman while money can be seen on the ground nearby, as a Thai man calls the police at the scene.

Similarly, a transgender massage worker surrendered to police in Pattaya after a Japanese tourist reported being assaulted and robbed inside a hotel room. The suspect arrived at Pattaya City Police Station and returned 9,000 baht, allegedly taken from the victim’s hotel room.
