Woman and nephew shocked after finding body in Buriram canal

A 51 year old woman and her 21 year old nephew were left in shock after attempting to perform CPR on a man found in a canal in Buriram province yesterday, March 2.
The incident occurred around noon near the Buriram-Prakhon Chai road, between Chum Phle village and Prakhon Chai district. The man, identified as 63 year old Mee (surname withheld), was discovered in a pond approximately 2 metres deep, situated by the roadside.
Upon inspection, emergency services and Police Lieutenant Anusorn Yonsatitkul from Prakhon Chai station found no visible signs of assault on the body. Fishing equipment and a motorcycle were found nearby, leading to the assumption that the man had been dead for around two days, given the odour emanating from the body.
According to Jim (surname withheld), she and her nephew were fishing when they noticed hair floating on the water’s surface. Suspecting it was a person, they approached and retrieved the body.

Jim recounted how her nephew pulled the body from the water, and they attempted CPR. After a few compressions, foul-smelling liquid emerged from the man’s mouth, followed by a swarm of flies, reinforcing their belief that the man was already dead.
When questioned about her CPR knowledge, Jim admitted she had none, having only seen the technique on television. Despite her intentions to help, she was unprepared for the situation, reported KhaoSod.
Meanwhile, 53 year old Wirasak (surname withheld), a friend of the Mee, explained that Mee usually fished with him.
On the previous day, Mee had gone to set up fishing nets alone. Wirasak speculated that Mee might have become entangled in the net, leading to his inability to free himself.
In similar news, Pattaya police faced a puzzling situation when they were alerted to the discovery of a foreigner’s body near a Naklua resort on December 30 last year.
The body was found in an unusual and alarming position, folded and wedged into a drainpipe measuring 50 by 50 centimetres, with the legs pointing upward, sparking immediate concern.
