Two victims have sought legal assistance after a renowned surgical doctor, previously convicted for causing a patient’s death due to a botched liposuction procedure, reportedly ruined their faces in a case of unsuccessful surgery. The incidents occurred at a clinic in Huai Khwang district. The victims, 37 year old Nam (nickname) and 25 year old Tae (nickname) reported their experiences to Rannanrung Kaewpech, the president of the Network Campaign for Social Justice.

Nam explained that she decided to have a nose job at the clinic after seeing positive reviews from a friend who had undergone a forehead procedure there. Initially attracted by a special review price of 25,000 baht, her treatment started on January 17. However, after the cast was removed seven days later, she was unhappy with the result.

The doctor suggested further adjustments, which led to three silicone removals in one week, followed by continuous corrections. Nam underwent a total of 16 surgeries within a year, during which her nose became infected. The doctor prescribed painkillers and antibiotics for self-injection but did not offer to rest the nose, continuing with the treatments instead.

After the final unsuccessful surgery in August, Nam decided to stop the treatment, as her condition was deteriorating, causing her to lose her job due to frequent absences. Currently, she does not dare to face people and wears a mask all the time.

The doctor rejected her request for compensation, arguing that the free corrections had already exceeded the original cost. Nam now wants compensation for the damage to seek treatment elsewhere.

Nam further revealed that after the fifth or sixth surgery, she checked the doctor’s background and was shocked to learn about his past. Name alleges that the same doctor had a patient die and he went to prison because of it. However, she felt unable to withdraw from the treatment, hoping it would improve given the doctor was still allowed to practice, reported KhaoSod.

Another unsuccessful case

The second victim, Tae, underwent a double eyelid surgery and facial sculpting, which involved the doctor scraping her scalp skin, brushing her mouth, and moving her hairline. The doctor used only local anaesthesia, not general. Tae’s facial structure was first adjusted in May, and later her double eyelid surgery was performed on October 25.

However, the unsuccessful surgery left her with unsightly scars and uneven eyes. Despite further corrections, her condition worsened. Tae spent 103,000 baht on facial adjustments and another 21,000 baht on eye surgery. Her life has been significantly affected as the scars are visible, her face is indented, her eyes are abnormal, and she now has a permanent scar.

Following the doctor’s dismissal of their complaints, the victims posted their stories on TikTok, receiving numerous responses from other victims.

Rannanrung Kaewpech, the lawyer, will now take the victims for a medical examination to assist with the case. He will also file a complaint with the crime suppression division, the Consumer Protection Board, and the Medical Council, questioning why the doctor’s license has not been revoked despite his past conviction.
