Thai Paralympic table tennis team hailed after 9-medal haul in Paris
Thailand’s national Paralympic table tennis team met with the Chair of the Police Commission after securing four gold and five bronze medals.
Yesterday, September 18, at the Royal Thai Police headquarters, Naradet Thiprak, Deputy Commander of Provincial Police Region 1 and Chair of the Police Table Tennis Committee, alongside Suriya Puangsombat, Deputy Superintendent of the Immigration Division 1, led the coaching staff for a meeting with Thachchai Pitaniyalabut, Assistant Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police and Chair of the Police Commission.
The purpose was to express gratitude and report on the 17th Paralympic Games in Paris, France, where the team achieved notable success.
The Thai national Paralympic table tennis team, consisting of Wanchai Chaiwut, Phisit Wangphonpattanasiri, Rungroj Thainiyom, Wijitra Jai-on, Yutthachak Klinbanchuen, Chalermpong Panpu, Chilchitpayak Butwansirina, and Dararat Asayut, brought home a total of nine medals from the competition. The medals included four gold and five bronze, marking a significant achievement for the athletes and the country.
After the meeting, Thachchai commended the athletes, acknowledging the hard work and dedication they demonstrated, regardless of whether they won medals. He emphasised that their efforts were not only for themselves and their families but also for the nation.
Thachchai noted that he, along with the Thai public followed the Paralympic Games more closely than ever before, thanks to the various media broadcasts.
“I would like to thank the athletes, officials, and coaches of the Thai national Paralympic team for their dedication and sacrifices. You have brought joy to the Thai people during these challenging times.”
He further expressed his hope that the determination and resilience of the Paralympic athletes would serve as an inspiration for people with disabilities across the country, encouraging them to face life’s challenges with courage and adapt to society positively, reported KhaoSod.
Thai athletes won 30 medals, ranking 21st on the medal table when the games ended on Sunday, September 8.
