Two teenage girls riding a motorbike suffered severe injuries in Chiang Mai after they crashed due to being hit in the face by some wild, uncultivated grass by the roadside. The accident, which resulted in one of the girls lying unconscious with a bloody mouth, prompted calls for related agencies to urgently trim the overgrown grass.

A 34 year old resident from Pa Hae-Nong Moo, Mueang Lamphun district, was on his motorbike along the railway parallel road near the Ton Pung intersection when he spotted a distressed teenage girl, about 17 years old. She was crying and asking for help for her friend lying down the road, their motorbike toppled nearby.

The resident quickly rushed to help the unconscious girl, who had sustained a severe head injury and was bleeding profusely from her mouth. He alerted the local rescue team, who transported the injured girls to Lamphun Hospital.

Initial information revealed that the teenagers were returning from visiting relatives in Lamphun City. The injured girl, who had been driving the motorbike, was wearing a helmet without a face shield. It’s believed that the grass on the roadside struck her face, causing the motorbike to lose control and crash into the roadside, resulting in serious injuries.

On observation, the roadside grass along the railway line was found to be excessively overgrown, except for some spots where locals had cut it for animal feed. The resident urges relevant authorities to quickly trim down the grass for the safety of road users. If left unchecked, similar accidents may occur, potentially resulting in loss of lives and property damage, reported KhaoSod.

In related news, in the early morning hours, a 20 year old man faced a severe accident when his motorcycle collided with a water pump pipe installed in the middle of the road. The impact resulted in a fractured skull for the young rider. Investigations later revealed that the water pump pipe was installed by the Wang Sala Subdistrict Municipality in west Thailand.
