In the sleepy surroundings of Lamor subdistrict, in southern Thailand, a daring snake rescue played out in front of house number 95/2, where a 2-metre-long cobra took unwelcome refuge, throwing the local community into a hiss-terical frenzy.

A team led by 20 year old “Benz” Suphat Iadchata from Benz Asorapith Trang, yesterday, February 27, responded to a homeowner’s SOS call: a passerby had spooked a sizeable serpent into taking cover under a concrete slab. Alarm turned to action as onlookers and residents teetered between fascination and fear.

Upon lifting the slab, aside from finding their slithering celebrity, a robust black cobra, they were greeted by a surprise guest, a scorpion with no intention of missing out on the drama.

Hissing in defiance, the cobra threatened an impromptu show of strength but under the calm expertise of Benz and his crew, it only took five minutes to wrangle the serpent and its unexpected sidekick into a sack, much to the relief of the rattled residents, reported KhaoSod.

The homeowners, who have enjoyed snake-free peace for over a decade, chalked the experience up to nature’s unpredictability.

They speculated that recent heavy rains might have driven the serpent snugly into their domicile, either in search of dry land or a mate. As a newfound precaution, they’ve resolved to keep their doors tightly secured.

Adding another twist to the tale, locals and the homeowners, with keen senses of humour and hope, decided the house number might just be their ticket to fortune, planning to use it for an upcoming lottery draw on March 1.

In similar news, an encounter with a king cobra swiftly spiralled into chaos when the slithery reptile made a daring escape during its transfer to a new container in Kamala. The incident triggered an urgent and tense effort to recapture the elusive serpent on Saturday, February 22.

The king cobra had been captured earlier that day at a hotel in Kamala by Kusoldharm Phuket’s Kuan Yang rescue unit.
