A devoted Police Sergeant lost his life in a selfless moment of duty in a heart-wrenching tragedy in Surat Thani. On Monday, January 27, the 35 year old hero, Police Sergeant Charoenphon Niamniyom from the Surat Thani City Police, was tragically mowed down by a runaway pickup truck.

The shocking incident unfolded as Sgt. Charoenphon was gallantly assisting a delivery rider stranded with a broken chain on a local bypass road. Rushed to Surat Thani Hospital, the brave officer ultimately succumbed to his horrific injuries.

Sgt. Charoenphon’s story of sacrifice doesn’t end there. Having registered as an organ donor with the Thai Red Cross, the altruistic officer continues to make a difference beyond his untimely death. His noble act brought new life to five desperate patients, with successful transplants of his heart valve, liver, kidneys, and corneas.

In a moving ceremony, his family, colleagues, and hospital staff gathered to honour his incredible, life-giving donations and heroic legacy.

A respected figure with a decade of unwavering service, Sgt. Charoenphon was known for his kindness and commitment to duty, beloved by both his family and the wider community. His devastated 32 year olf wife, Atchariya, described her husband as a cheerful and caring soul, and a doting father to their one year old daughter.

The final farewell for this beloved officer will be held today, January 30 at Wat Dhammabucha in Surat Thani. As the community rallies together, expedited financial support is being arranged to help his grieving wife and child in these trying times.
