An intoxicated man was arrested after entering a hospital with a knife and causing a commotion before dozing off in a patient observation room.

The incident occurred around 1.30am at the Chularat 11 Hospital in Bang Pakong, Chachoengsao. Police and rescue workers promptly responded, subduing the situation and detaining the 31 year old man.

Nikorn Janruang, under the influence of alcohol, had wandered into the hospital with the knife, making his way to the seventh floor, prompting medical staff to secure themselves in their rooms.

A vigilant hospital security officer later discovered him asleep in the observation room, positioned next to a one-foot-long knife. The police were immediately called, and they arrested Nikorn without incident.

Before the hospital disturbance, Nikorn had been seen dropping off an intoxicated person at the Bang Pakong Police Station and quickly leaving the scene on his motorcycle. He claimed to have gone to the hospital solely to seek headache relief but could not recall the exact location he needed to visit.

Overwhelmed by drowsiness, he searched for a place to rest, insisting that the knife was solely for self-defence, reported KhaoSod.

Deputy Inspector Kraisak Chueachu, in charge of subduing the situation, stated that Nikorn did not intend to harm anyone and was merely confused and in need of rest. The police took Nikorn into custody, and further investigation is underway to determine the appropriate charges for his actions.
