The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) issued a weather warning today, indicating heavy rainfall across the northern regions, with 80% of the area expected to be affected. People are advised to be cautious of flash floods and sudden water surges.

The TMD’s 24-hour forecast predicts moderate southwesterly monsoon winds over the upper Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the upper Gulf of Thailand. Additionally, a low-pressure area is present over northern Vietnam.

These conditions are expected to result in heavy rain in the northern, upper northeastern, and eastern regions of Thailand. Residents in these areas are urged to be vigilant about potential heavy rain and accumulated rainfall, which could lead to flash floods and sudden water surges, particularly in foothill regions near waterways and low-lying areas.

In the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand, moderate wind conditions with waves of 1 to 2 metres high are expected. In areas with thunderstorms, waves could exceed 2 metres. Mariners in these regions are advised to navigate cautiously and avoid sailing in stormy conditions during this period.
