November 29: Thailand faces cold front, storms in deep South

Thailand’s Meteorological Department (TMD) has issued a 24-hour forecast, detailing colder conditions sweeping across upper Thailand and parts of the South, as a high-pressure system strengthens its hold over the region.

As of today, November 29, the cold air mass covering upper Thailand and the upper south is causing temperatures to dip further, accompanied by strong winds. The north and northeast are expected to experience very cold conditions in some areas.

Authorities also advise the public to be cautious of fire hazards caused by dry and windy weather.

In the southern region, rainfall is expected to ease overall, but heavy rain is still forecast in lower provinces such as Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat. The moderate northeast monsoon currently influencing the Gulf of Thailand, the south, and the Andaman Sea continues to bring unstable conditions to coastal areas.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Koto, currently situated over the central South China Sea, is projected to approach the Vietnamese coast between November 30 and December 2. However, due to the high-pressure system covering Vietnam and the upper South China Sea, the storm is expected to weaken quickly.

A separate tropical depression east of Malaysia is also moving toward the central South China Sea. Neither weather system is expected to impact Thailand.
