Tourists in Pattaya got an unexpected festive surprise on Christmas Day as the city’s Tourist Police doled out sweets to delighted visitors while promoting the Thailand Tourist Police app, a tool designed to enhance safety and provide quick assistance across the country.

“Safety doesn’t take a holiday,” quipped one officer, handing out candy to a group of tourists. The app, known as the TTPB-APP, enables users to report incidents, share locations, and contact the police instantly, giving peace of mind to travellers during their festive adventures.

The bustling street was alive with holiday spirit as Thai and international revellers dressed in red and green celebrated together. Local businesses joined the festive frenzy, decking out their venues with seasonal decorations and hosting Christmas-themed activities.

“We want everyone to enjoy the festivities while feeling safe,” explained a police spokesperson. Officers also shared essential safety tips alongside the sweets, blending holiday joy with practical advice.

A force of over 420 officers and volunteers took to the streets of Pattaya on Christmas Eve, ensuring the safety and security of tourists during the festive period. The initiative, which took place at precisely 6.36pm on December 24, was spearheaded by Yingyot Thepchamnong, Commander of Police Region 2, who orchestrated a comprehensive safety operation for the Christmas and 2025 new year festivities.

The campaign follows a crackdown on crimes during the Christmas and new year period, reported in a meeting led by Prachuab Wongsuk, Deputy Commissioner-General of the RTP.
