Fatal nap: Passenger found dead on Rayong-Nakhon Phanom bus

A routine bus journey turned tragic when a passenger was found dead in his seat, having been mistaken for being asleep by fellow travellers. The chilling discovery was made when the bus driver attempted to wake him at his stop, only to find his body cold and unresponsive.
The incident occurred on a tour bus travelling from Rayong to Nakhon Phanom, which was parked at Ban That Intersection in Sakon Nakhon province. Sakon Nakhon City Police and the Sakon Nakhon Foundation Metta Tham Rescue Unit, Uthit Unit, responded to the scene after the shocking discovery.
The deceased was identified as 51 year old Jakkrit from Tha Bo district, Nong Khai province. He was found lying in his second-floor seat, appearing to be peacefully asleep. Passengers around him initially thought he was resting throughout the almost 12-hour journey.
Anan, the bus driver, revealed that the tragic discovery was made when he went to wake up the passengers to ask if anyone was getting off at the Ban That intersection.
“I shook him to wake him up, but his body was already stiff.”
He asked other passengers nearby, who confirmed that they had noticed nothing unusual, assuming he was just sleeping.
Police, including a doctor from Sakon Nakhon Hospital, inspected the scene and found no visible wounds or signs of foul play. Initial investigations suggest that the man likely died from an underlying health condition.
Fellow passengers were left in disbelief, shaken by the realisation that they had been travelling alongside a deceased man for hours, completely unaware of his passing.
No foul play is suspected, and the body has been taken for a detailed autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, reported KhaoSod.
