A fatal motorcycle accident in the dark claimed the life of a 25 year old man from Udon Thani province.

The incident occurred near a concrete factory situated on the Na Kha-Sum Sao Road, in the large Thon district of Na Kha. The accident scene was attended to by Police Lieutenant Colonel Ratchapol Morarat, an investigative officer of Na Kha Police Station.

At the site of the motorcycle accident, the 25 year old man, Kritsada (surname withheld), lay lifeless in the middle of the road, suffering from severe head and neck injuries. Near his body lay a brand-new, orange Honda Wave-I motorcycle without a license plate. The vehicle had sustained significant damage.

Also found at the motorcycle accident scene were a seriously injured couple from the district of Phen in Udon Thani: 27 year old Piyaporn (surname withheld) and 32 year old Thawatchai. Both suffered broken left legs. Close to them, a black and white Honda Wave motorcycle with the license plate 2 KAN 1501 Udon Thani was found toppled over.

Scattered nearby were plates of pad see ew, a popular Thai dish. The injured couple was quickly rushed to Udon Thani Centre Hospital for emergency treatment.

According to initial investigations, 36 year old Vissanu, the manager of the concrete factory, explained that the injured couple worked and resided at the factory. Before the accident, they were returning from a meal at a house approximately 5 kilometres away from the factory.

Around 6.46pm, as they were slowing down to take a right turn into the factory, Kritsada, speeding on his motorcycle, crashed into them.

The tragedy was witnessed by Kritsada’s 29 year old brother, Tinkorn. Visibly mournful, he held his younger brother’s hand and expressed his disbelief at the sudden loss. He revealed that Kritsada had been working at an ice factory and was returning from buying skin cream for him at a local store when the motorcycle accident occurred. Tinkorn was informed about his brother’s accident by a villager, but he never imagined that it would be fatal, reported KhaoSod.

The police believe that Kritsada’s high-speed riding combined with the poorly lit road conditions led to the fatal accident. They plan to further examine witnesses and review CCTV footage for a clearer understanding of the incident.

Meanwhile, Kritsada’s body was taken to the forensic department of Udon Thani Centre Hospital, awaiting his relatives for the last rites according to their traditions.
