Explosion at Nakhon Ratchasima scrap shop kills one, injures four

An unexplained explosion at a scrap shop in Nakhon Ratchasima’s Wang Nam Khiao district resulted in one fatality and four serious injuries. Police are actively investigating the incident, which occurred at 8.30am today, March 18, in the village of Non Si Thong, Udomsap subdistrict.
Officers from the Udomsap Police Station responded to reports of the explosion, accompanied by the bomb disposal unit and forensic teams from Nakhon Ratchasima’s Forensic Centre 3, as well as Hook 31 rescue volunteers.
The blast took place in front of a recycling shop, where items were being unloaded from a Toyota pickup truck with a sticker reading Saijai Recycle on the front.

The powerful explosion scattered the victims, leaving five people in total, including two men and three women, severely injured on the ground.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene, with significant injuries to the arms and face. The injured people were rushed to Wang Nam Khiao Hospital for treatment.
Initial investigations have not yet determined the cause of the explosion. However, police discovered another object resembling a bomb at the scene.
The area has been cordoned off to allow officials to gather evidence and determine the true cause of the incident, reported KhaoSod.
In similar news, a large fire broke out at a scrap yard in Pattaya, causing damages estimated at 300,000 baht and worsening air pollution concerns in the area.
The Nong Prue Municipality’s Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department was alerted to the fire at 2 pm on February 13, at a scrap yard located in Soi Thung Klom Tan Man 17.
Firefighters from the Nong Prue Police Station and Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation quickly responded, sending five fire trucks to the scene.
Upon arrival, they found the 6-rai yard filled with smoke and flames consuming a warehouse that stored old cardboard boxes. It took about 30 minutes to control the fire, but much of the facility was already destroyed by that time.
