Elderly woman found dead in Nakhon Si Thammarat canal

A 66 year old woman was found dead in a rubber plantation canal in Mueang district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province, after being missing from home for several hours. Initial autopsy results indicated she had been dead for at least six hours before her body was discovered yesterday, February 18.
Police Colonel Kittichai Kairnara, along with investigators, a doctor from Maharaj Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital, and Pracharuamjai Foundation staff, responded to the scene in Moo 4, Na Sai subdistrict. The investigation revealed no signs of foul play on Arom Nijjanart’s body but her family members were visibly saddened by the loss.
According to the investigation, Arom left her home earlier in the day and was not seen for several hours, prompting relatives to search for her. Later in the evening, someone discovered her body in the plantation canal and attempted to help, only to realise she had been deceased for some time.
The police were then notified to examine the scene. Further inquiries revealed that Arom had been unwell but had not sought medical advice.
It is believed that Arom may have gone to the plantation to check on the rubber tapped earlier. She may have experienced a sudden illness, causing her to fall into the canal and drown, unable to assist herself, reported KhaoSod.
Her family accepted the cause of death, and after the police completed the autopsy, they entrusted her body to the family for traditional funeral rites.
