Chihuahua attacked by delivery worker in Nakhon Si Thammarat
A delivery worker severely injured a Chihuahua named Samlee, sparking widespread outrage. The incident, reported by the Watchdog Thailand Foundation on their Facebook page, involved the worker assaulting the small dog by stomping on it before slamming it against the ground at the dog’s owner’s house in Nakhon Si Thammarat province.
The dog’s owner immediately rushed Samlee to the hospital, where veterinarians stabilised the dog, though close monitoring continues due to the severity of the injuries. The dog had been chained at the time of the attack, and its owner later filed a report with the Lan Saka District Police Station.
Watchdog Thailand Foundation stated that this case should serve as a warning to those who dislike animals, emphasising that animal cruelty is a criminal offence that cannot be settled privately. The foundation also demands compensation for medical expenses, urging that charges of animal cruelty and property damage be brought against the perpetrator.
The foundation provided an update on Samlee’s condition, noting improvement in its health, with an increased appetite. However, the dog remains wary of strangers, a notable change from its previous behaviour of barking at unfamiliar faces, reported KhaoSod.
The page expressed hope for Samlee’s recovery, acknowledging the trauma the small dog endured. Meanwhile, local police are actively pursuing the delivery worker to address the charges.
In related news, a bitch, believed to have been shot, struggled to return to her puppies to nurse them before succumbing to her injuries while they were still feeding. This tragic incident took place on December 25 last year, in Songkhla province, adding a sad note to Christmas and prompting immediate action from local officials and animal welfare organisations.
A video circulated online showed a mother dog with a gunshot-like wound trying to nurse her puppies despite her critical condition. Sympathisers were moved by her maternal instincts, even as she lay dying, and the clip quickly gained widespread attention.
