Car crash in Ratchaburi after women swerve to avoid dog
A shocking car crash occurred in Ratchaburi when two young women swerved to avoid a dog, causing their vehicle to crash into a tree and burst into flames. The incident, today, August 9, left the car destroyed.
At 3am, Pak Tho Police Station in Ratchaburi received a report about a car fire on Phetkasem Road, heading southward in Moo 5, Pa Kai Sub-district, Pak Tho District, Ratchaburi province. The police, including the local fire brigade and rescue teams, were promptly informed and rushed to the scene.
Upon arrival, they found a Honda Civic, the colour and registration of which remain unknown, engulfed in flames after colliding with a tree on the left side of the road. The car had flipped over with its wheels facing upwards.
Nearby, two injured women were discovered and identified as 20 year old Wasana, the driver, and 19 year old Yosita, the passenger. The rescue team provided first aid and transported both women to Pak Tho Hospital.
According to initial statements from two Good Samaritans, they had been driving home from Ratchaburi Market when the incident occurred. The witnesses, who were driving at approximately 80 kilometres per hour (km/h) in the right lane, noticed the Honda Civic overtaking them on the right before swerving into the left lane. They assumed the car was turning into an alley.
As they approached the accident scene, they saw the Honda Civic lose control and crash into the tree, with sparks beginning to ignite a fire. The witnesses quickly stopped to help, managing to pull the driver and passenger from the wreckage.
They confirmed that only two people were in the car, and the injured women corroborated this, explaining that they had swerved to avoid a dog, leading to the loss of control.
The fire soon engulfed the entire vehicle, reducing it to a mere shell. Fortunately, there was no damage to nearby houses or public property. Police have since contacted the relatives of the injured women to proceed with further actions.
A witness recounted the accident.
“We were driving back from the market when the road was clear. Suddenly, the Honda Civic sped past us and swerved into the left lane. Moments later, we saw it crash into a tree and catch fire.
“We managed to pull the two women out just in time. They told us they were trying to avoid a dog, which caused the accident.”
Police continue to investigate the accident, ensuring that all details are accurately recorded and the scene is thoroughly examined. The prompt response and bravery of the Good Samaritans likely prevented a more tragic outcome, highlighting the importance of quick thinking and community support in emergencies.
