Locals informed the media yesterday, January 15, about this unusual banana plant located at a residence in Sri Thoi subdistrict, Phayao province. Upon receiving this information, reporters went to verify the situation.

The house belongs to 50 year old Praphan Wongtawan, a resident of the Pasak Samakkhi village, house number 83, village 12, Sri Thoi subdistrict, Mae Chai district, Phayao province.

Upon arrival, many villagers were observed gathering at the site with flowers, incense, and candles, seeking fortune from the banana bud, especially as the lottery draw approaches tomorrow, January 17.

Reporters noted that after paying respects with incense to the spirit believed to reside there, the Goddess Tanee, the villagers focused intently on the banana trunk and the bud. They counted the banana clusters to find potential lottery numbers.

The banana plant in question is a green Cavendish banana, initially planted behind the house. Although the trunk was cut down, leaving a stump about 1 metre high, and seemingly on the verge of rotting, it astonishingly survived.

From this stump, a bud emerged from the middle, with clusters forming in a manner that astonished the owner and those who saw it. Resembling a lotus flower in size, the banana clusters appeared to cradle the bud-like hands.

This spectacle has led villagers to believe in the protective and auspicious presence of the Goddess Tanee, prompting them to seek blessings and potential fortune.
