A cold morning greeted visitors at Doi Inthanon, Chiang Mai, as temperatures dipped to a chilly 8 degrees Celsius. Tourists flocked to experience the cold weather, with Kew Mae Pan recording 9 degrees Celsius and the park headquarters at 13 degrees Celsius.

Chiang Mai City saw morning temperatures ranging between 21 and 22 degrees Celsius, prompting locals to don warm clothing. The head of Doi Inthanon National Park, Kriengkrai Chaipiset, shared that the summit of Doi Inthanon is a popular spot for witnessing the first light of day, despite the frigid climate.

The park’s headquarters, located at kilometre marker 31, reported temperatures of 13 degrees Celsius. Visitor statistics from yesterday revealed a total of 3,856 tourists, comprising 2,383 Thai nationals and 1,473 foreign visitors, with 898 vehicles entering the park.

The Northern Meteorological Centre indicated that the cold conditions are influenced by a high-pressure system or cool air mass from China, which is currently weakening. This change is causing temperatures in upper Thailand to rise, although the northern region remains cool in the mornings with morning fog, reported KhaoSod.

Residents are advised to maintain their health due to the changing weather conditions and exercise caution while travelling through foggy areas.

In related news, the Meteorological Department of Thailand (TMD) issued a weather warning for today, highlighting scattered rainfall in the southern, northeastern, and eastern regions of Thailand. Simultaneously, the entire country is experiencing a temperature increase of 1 to 2°C, urging citizens to brace for changing weather conditions.

The next 24 hours will see the weakening high-pressure or cold air mass covering the upper parts of Thailand, leading to a rise in temperatures and morning fog. Despite the temperature increase, the northern and northeastern regions will remain cool in the mornings. Residents in the upper regions of Thailand are advised to take care of their health amidst these fluctuating weather conditions.
