Thailand braces for rising temperatures and scattered rainfall
The Meteorological Department of Thailand (TMD) issued a weather warning for today, highlighting scattered rainfall in the southern, northeastern, and eastern regions of Thailand. Simultaneously, the entire country is experiencing a temperature increase of 1 to 2°C, urging citizens to brace for changing weather conditions.
The next 24 hours will see the weakening high-pressure or cold air mass covering the upper parts of Thailand, leading to a rise in temperatures and morning fog. Despite the temperature increase, the northern and northeastern regions will remain cool in the mornings. Residents in the upper regions of Thailand are advised to take care of their health amidst these fluctuating weather conditions.
In the north, cool weather accompanied by morning fog is expected, with a slight rise in temperatures. The minimum temperature will range from 19 to 21°C, while the maximum will reach 33 to 35°C. On the mountaintops, the weather will be cold, with the lowest temperatures between 8 and 15°C.
The northeast will also experience cool weather with morning fog. Temperatures are anticipated to rise by 1 to 2°C, with thunderstorms affecting 20% of the area, primarily in Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Surin, Sisaket, and Ubon Ratchathani provinces.
The minimum temperature will be between 18 and 22°C, while the maximum will range from 32 to 35°C. On the peaks, the weather will be cool to cold, with the lowest temperatures between 14 and 17 °C.
The central region will have light morning fog, with temperatures increasing by 1 to 2°C. The minimum temperature will be around 22 to 24°C, and the maximum will reach 33 to 35°C.
Rising temperature
In the east, light morning fog will be present, with a slight temperature increase. Thunderstorms are expected in 20% of the area, mostly in Sa Kaeo, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat provinces. The minimum temperature will be between 23 and 25°C, and the maximum will range from 34 to 36°C.
The eastern coast of the south will experience thunderstorms in 40% of the area, mainly in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat provinces. The minimum temperature will be between 23 and 24 °C, and the maximum will be 32 to 34 °C. The sea will have waves about 1 metre high, with waves exceeding 2 metres in areas with thunderstorms.
The western coast of the south will also see thunderstorms in 40% of the area, primarily in Phang Nga, Krabi, Trang, and Satun provinces. The minimum temperature will range from 23 to 25 °C, and the maximum will be 33 to 34 °C. The sea will have waves approximately 1 metre high, with waves over 2 metres in thunderstorm areas, reported KhaoSod.
Bangkok and its surrounding areas will have some clouds with light morning fog. A slight increase in temperature is expected, with minimums of 25 to 26°C and maximums of 34 to 36°C.
