Fatal crash on Samut Prakan road, leaving motorcyclist dead after collision

A tragic accident occurred when a motorcyclist collided with the back of a car, fell, and was subsequently run over by an 18-wheel truck, resulting in his death.

The incident took place at 5pm yesterday, April 30, in Bang Kaeo district, Samut Prakan province. Police from Bang Kaeo station were notified of the accident on Thepharak Road, at kilometre marker 14 in Bang Chalong subdistrict, Bang Phli district. They arrived at the scene with Ruamkatanyu Foundation officials to investigate.

Upon arrival, police discovered the body of 39 year old Phinyo, a resident of Non Sila district, Khon Kaen province. He was found lying face down on the road, having sustained fatal head injuries from being run over by a wheel. Nearby lay his overturned motorcycle, while a Volvo sedan and an 18-wheel truck were parked a short distance away.

The female driver of the sedan, visibly shaken, described the events leading up to the accident. She explained that she had been driving normally when she reached the scene, where traffic ahead had come to a halt, prompting her to stop as well.

Suddenly, a motorcycle approached from behind, collided with the rear of her car, lost control, and was subsequently run over by the 18-wheel truck, resulting in the motorcyclist’s death.

The deceased’s body was transported to the forensic department at Ramathibodi Chakri Naruebodindra Hospital. Meanwhile, police initiated an investigation and legal proceedings, after which the family will be allowed to reclaim the body for religious rites, reported KhaoSod.

In similar news, a tragic incident occurred when a motorcyclist was struck by a car and fell from the Bang Prakaew overpass in Bangkok. The car, a BMW, fled the scene, leaving behind debris.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Suvijak Noisri from Bang Mod Police Station responded to the report of the crash at 7.30am on April 16. The motorcyclist, 45 year old Amnat Bunrod, fell around 7 meters to the road below after being hit by the car, suffering severe injuries.
